Recently, volunteers from VCK Democratic Women were trained by Election Commission Kay Ekey for voter registration drives. At the Garland County Library, these volunteers then registered voters. One elderly woman, along with her adult grandaughter registered to vote. The grandmother revealed that she has never, not once, voted in her life! It was a powerful moment, for this woman to be welcomed and reminded that her vote counts.
In another situation, a resident relocated to Hot Springs more than 30 years ago, and had not registered to vote since moving! On this day, she chose to register--just in time for the February 8 election in Garland County. It was an honor to assist persons to register to vote!
